Crossing the southern border - policy & pressure

The rules haven’t changed.
We’re still enforcing the border like always, and turning away thousands of people every week.
Rumors and desperation.
Migrants are fleeing COVID, hurricanes in Honduras, organized crime, and domestic violence. Meanwhile, there are rumors that the new administration has “opened” the border. They’re not true.
What can be done?
The US is increasing AID to countries of origin and working to make border operations more efficient. A bill before Congress has many provisions in it, including:
- punishing companies who hire undocumented immigrants;
- speeding up the process for legal immigration; and
- using smart technology to help enforce the border.
