5 myths about critical race theory

Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a hot button issue.
Some parents and lawmakers say that teachers are using it to make kids anti-white and anti-American. But whether CRT should be taught in school is not a real issue. Because NO ONE IS TEACHING CRT in K-12 schools. So when politicians bring up CRT it’s to get you scared and riled up.
Here are the biggest myths we’ve heard about CRT:
Myth #1: Critical Race Theory is taught to young children.
NO ONE is teaching critical race theory to any K-12 children.
Trying to teach CRT to kids would be like trying to teach them Triple Integrals.
Myth #2: CRT teaches children to be anti-American.
Again, CRT is NOT a part of any K-12 curriculum, nor is anyone asking for it to be.
Candid discussion of America’s past and present issues, is not anti-American and it is not CRT.
Myth #3: CRT teaches children to be anti-white.
NOPE, because they don’t teach CRT to children. But also critical race theory itself just looks at how racism, specifically institutional racism, affects policy making, legislation, and the law.
Myth #4: CRT forces children to deal with materials that are too mature for them.
CRT IS NOT TAUGHT IN K-12 SCHOOLS.
Teaching children about the history of slavery is a part of American history and it is not CRT.
78% of adults believe that you should teach the history of slavery in high school.
Myth #5: CRT teaches children that they are either victims or oppressors.
THEY DON’T TEACH CRT TO CHILDREN!
There is no mention of victims or oppressors. Just a clear look at the setbacks caused by racism. Oh, did I mention NO ONE IS TEACHING CHILDREN CRT.
