Is there a scientific consensus on climate change?
It’s true. More than 97% of actively publishing climate scientists agree that climate change is real and caused by human activity.
Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals have analyzed the content of peer-reviewed scientific papers on climate. Of those that refer to climate change, more than 97% agree that it is real and caused by human activity. That number is growing each year. Studies that surveyed the authors of papers that discuss climate show similar results.
A follow up study confirms that more than 97% of the scientists who authored those papers agree with the consensus.
Most ordinary Americans agree.
- 73% of Americans think global warming is happening.
- Only one in ten Americans (10%) think global warming is not happening.
