Rumor vs Reality
In 2019, Georgia passed a state law that says that the Secretary of State must audit one race this year. Audits are common and used to make sure the election equipment and processes work properly. Secretary of State Raffensperger, a Republican, chose the presidential election because of the “national significance of this race and the closeness of this race.” This election has been called one of the most secure in the nation’s history. The review is unlikely to change the outcome of the election. The audit began as planned on Friday, November 13 and was completed on time. The Georgia election results were certified on November 20.
